Ms. Schmit's Art Education Philosophy
Art education can help people gain visual communication, divergent thinking, and problem solving skills that they can use in every area of their lives. The reality is art go beyond a nice painting hung in a gallery. It provides substance to our everyday lives and challenges us as a society to become something better than we were before.
Contrary to popular belief, Art is a skill that can be taught. Just like with any field of expertise it may come more naturally to some than others; however, through Skill, Creativity, Craftsmanship, and Effort, everyone has the chance to succeed. It is though these four keys to success that I focus on in the making of art… and yes, they can be taught! It is my desire that your skills, understanding and appreciation will grow within the field of art as well as the world around you.

“Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.” My Artwork...
